The first Techné collection was released in 2009 and was named in honour of the founder’s great- grandfather. Ebua “Sparrow Hawk” was a nobleman an a World War I hero who shared his name with a famous 1 930s light fighter biplane that could be deployed from a large airship top perform reconnaissance across a much vider area.
After the release of the SparrowHawk watch, other collections continued to beassociated with fighter planes named after a bird.
Each collection draws inspiration from a different watchmaking era such as the 1 930’s for the original SparrowHawk, the 1940 ́s for the Merlin, and the 1 950’s for the Harrier.
Inspired by military watches of the 1 940’s, the Merlin gets its name from one of the finest piston engines ever manufactured and used on the legendary P-51 Mustang fighter. The Merlin watch offers optimal readability thanks to its broad skeletonized hands, oversized Arabic numerals, and non-radioactive luminous coating from Japan.
The round case is made in corrosion resistant AISI 31 6L stainless steel and is fitted with a retro- looking onion crow that provides water-resistant to 5 bar.
The mineral glass is shaped with a double curve to remind of early 20th century acrylic crystals.
The Merlin 296 has measurement identical to the basic model, but it houses a multifunction date mechanism that allows to keep track of a second time zone.
Made in corrosion resistant AISI 31 6L stainless steel, the case is water-resistant to 5 bar and features a pusher at 4 o’clock for quick setting of the second time zone.
Named after the first fighter jet with vertical take off and landing, the Harrier watch is a contemporary adaptation of French cockpit clocks from the 1 950’s. The Harrier fighter was extremely useful on the deck of naval carriers and it provided great operational and tactical flexibility on the field.
The case of the Harrier 367 watch uses a material inspired by the latest technology from Boeing and Airbus: fragments of carbon fibre are held together by a polymer to deliver high mechanical resistance. Fitted with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, this model is water-resistant to 1 0 bar and comes with a calf leather strap.
Made in the same high-performance carbon finer composite as the model 367, the Harrier 386 displays a second Time Zone thanks to a Swiss- engineered quartz mechanism with date and independent 24 hours hand.
The novel layout design with keleton hands, broad Arabic numerals and minutes marks coated with a non-radioactive Swiss luminous compound was copyrighted after several years of development.
The Harrier 368 is complemented by a cowhide strap with matching steel buckle.
Based on a 2013 limited edition made for the French anti-gang brigades, the Harrier 386 uses a Japanese engineered quartz mechanism with small seconds and date window. The dial and skeleton hands are coated with a non-radioactive luminous compound from Japan.
Made in dyed aeronautical aluminium with water- resistance to 5 bar, the case is fitted with a custom glass from Japan that boasts more than 680 Vickers in hardness, which is more than double the hardness of standard glass.
